Nice, I personally can't draw level concepts, I either draw something like an interactive scribble, change my mind, or just make something else...
It just feels more fluid making it from your imagination IMO, rather than a pre-calculated blueprint... My personal opinion, whatever works for you though, eh?

well, that's like my "this is what my level will look like optimally, assuming I have people making me my media"
I make sacrifices. I also change it a bit with reference pics I want to match from an FPS view.

Concept art is one of my favorite parts of game production, although I rarely have the patience to draw the outlines of a level on paper.
![]() Perhaps I'll create some concept art for a game idea I've had for ages and post some of it here. My drawing skills aren't the greatest, but I'll draw it nonetheless.

Yeah i agree concept is my favorite too, however, when i build levels i tend to use screenshots of other games to influence my level, like bioshock or FEAR, obviously this is a cheeky way of doing things but i find it useful to see how a professional level is crafted.

I use those as "reference pics" which I will put up on my billboard. I gather inspiration from them and then sketch a level.

Ever try using graph paper? I'm sure there are printable sheets out there, and it'd probably be a lot easier to show lengths of walls and stuff. Then again I suck at drawing and can barely draw a straight line...with a ruler.
